What file type should I send my artwork in?
Send your artwork as a print-ready PDF. PDF is the only file type we accept. A PDF keeps your layout, fonts and images exactly as you made them, whatever computer opens the file.
What print-ready means
| Setting | What we need |
|---|---|
| Format | PDF only |
| Colour | CMYK. An RGB file is converted to CMYK and printed |
| Bleed | 3mm on all sides as standard |
| Crop marks | Included on the PDF, along with the bleed |
| Images | 300dpi minimum at final size, for every product |
| Fonts | Embedded or outlined |
| Safe zone | Text kept 5mm in from the edge as standard |
Some products have a different bleed or safe zone, so check the product page.
Each of these is explained in its own article:
Templates
Some product pages have blank templates to download, with the bleed and safe areas already marked. Our business card pages are an example. The product page is the authority on what is offered, because ranges change, so look there before you start designing.
Double-sided and multi-page work
For a double-sided item such as a flyer or business card, send one PDF with two pages: the front as page 1 and the back as page 2.
For a booklet, send single pages in reading order. The cover can be in the same PDF or a separate file. See what order booklet pages go in.
Before you upload
You upload your artwork during checkout, or after ordering through an upload link.
- Keep your own copy of everything you send us. Files are uploaded at your own risk.
- Check the file at 100% zoom. What you see in the PDF is what will print.
Every order gets a free artwork check by a person. If we spot a problem, we contact you before anything is printed.
If you only have your design in another format, see how to export a print-ready PDF. If you cannot make a PDF, contact us before you order.
